Professor Newman of UNL Gave A Lecture to PDP Students
Newman, Professor of University of Nebraska-Lincoln, visited XJTUCC recently. He gave a wonderful lecture to PDP students. Mariah, Suzanne, Bowlin from XJTUCC-UNL PDP office and 40 students attended the event.
Professor Newman first introduced his hometown New Zealand. Then he mentioned that he once was an overseas student in the US and he completely understood how students felt before they went to the United States to study. He hoped that the students could prepare for studying abroad actively and sincerely wished them great success. After that, he did a vivid and humorous presentation on Western and Eastern Cultural Differences, which aroused the interests of all students. They expressed their views and opinions on restaurant cultural differences, family relationship differences, etc.
Finally, based on his own field of study, Newman presented an academic report on alcohol use, covering Chinese wine history, religious use of wine, commercial use of wine, etc. The report was very convincing, and close to reality. When it came to Professor Newman’s recent research field, youth alcohol use, he expressed his wish to help young people to get rid of bad habits.
The lecture was ended in laughter; the PDP students not only gained knowledge, but also knew a knowledgeable friend.
